Bowie & Jensen LLC is delighted to announce that Matthew A. S. Esworthy has been elected Equity Partner.
For more than two decades, businesses and individuals have turned to Matt for representation in high-stakes litigation before state and federal courts. He has achieved favorable results for clients in a variety of complex commercial disputes, regulatory matters, trusts and estates litigation, and cybersecurity cases, at the trial and appellate levels. Matt also has vast experience in representing individuals accused of white-collar crimes. He has defended clients against allegations of mail and wire fraud, bank fraud, antitrust violations, election fraud, and cybercrimes.
Since 2016, Matt has been named in the annual “Top 100” list published by Maryland Super Lawyers®, a publication of Thomson Reuters. He is also cited in Best Lawyers as one of the leading commercial litigators in the state.
“Matt Esworthy is a consummate advocate with a formidable command of the courtroom,” said William A. McComas, Bowie & Jensen’s Managing Partner. “A tenacious litigator for his clients, he is also a paragon of civility and collegiality. We are fortunate to have him as our newest Equity Partner.”
Throughout his accomplished career, Matt has been an active member of state and national bar associations, alumni groups, and civic organizations. A recognized authority on cybersecurity law, he serves as co-chair of the Maryland State Bar Association’s Cybersecurity Task Force, and of the Cyber Crime Committee of the American Bar Association’s Criminal Justice Section. He is past president of the alumni association for Pennsylvania State University’s Dickinson School of Law, and a past member of the Penn State Alumni Council’s executive board. Matt has also served on the boards of the Baltimore non-profit Civic Works and the Clarence H. “Du” Burns Memorial Fund. Acknowledging his many contributions to bar, alumni, and community organizations, The Daily Record honored Matt with a Leadership in Law Award in 2019.
Bowie & Jensen takes great pleasure in congratulating Matt on his well-deserved election to Equity Partner.
