Kimberly S. Grimsley and Michael W. Siri Join Bowie & Jensen Membership

Bowie & Jensen is pleased to announce that two attorneys, Kimberly S. Grimsley and Michael W. Siri were elected to the firm's partnership, effective January 1, 2012. The two attorneys were previously associates with the firm.

Litigation – Michael W. Siri

Mr. Siri practices in Bowie & Jensen’s litigation department, assisting clients with a variety of legal issues.  His practice focuses on commercial litigation, including construction law.  He has worked on matters at all stages of litigation in state and federal courts, as well as, administrative hearings and arbitrations.

Mr. Siri routinely counsels the firm’s construction law clients on issues involving various aspects of a construction project, including contract formation, mechanic’s liens, bid protests, delay claims, and payment issues.  As part of the firm’s construction law group, Mr. Siri provides legal guidance to individuals, general contractors, subcontractors, developers, and businesses.  Mr. Siri’s practice extends beyond construction law.  He has successfully represented clients in matters involving commercial litigation, including, but not limited to, claims arising out of breaches of contract, shareholder derivatives suits, receiverships, corporate dissolutions, employment claims, and litigation arising out of the administration of estates.

Mr. Siri graduated from the University of Maryland and received his Juris Doctor at the University of Maryland School of Law.

Intellectual Property - Kimberly S. Grimsley

Ms. Grimsley is a member of the Intellectual Property Department and heads the firm’s Trademark Group.

Ms. Grimsley’s practice concentrates on intellectual property, Internet, computer, social media marketing and business law matters.  Her work encompasses the protection, acquisition, use and licensing of trademarks, copyrights, and computer hardware and software.  She regularly counsels clients through the entire trademark process, beginning with assessing the availability of a mark and continuing through the application process, obtaining the registration and ultimately maintaining the registration.  Her trademark practice is not limited to the United States, but includes trademark protection internationally as well.

Policing marks is essential in protecting trademark rights.  Ms. Grimsley has resolved numerous trademark disputes efficiently without litigation when possible by negotiating various co-existence, consent, and licensing agreements to protect clients’ marks in a cost-effective manner.  When litigation is required, she has handled numerous opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.  Her experience also includes counseling clients on domain name issues and handling matters through the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy UDRP and under the Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act.

Ms. Grimsley graduated from Stevenson University and received her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from University of Baltimore School of Law.
